Client; BIRMINGHAM HIPPODROME; Once Upon a Time; a visual history of Pantomime. Objective; to create artwork as a response to the rich archive based at the Hippodrome which includes photographs, posters, programmes and records of the theatre’s history. The archive is one of the most important theatre archives in the UK and dates back to the first building in 1895, through the years that saw it become “The Hippodrome” in October 1903, to the present day. Myself and creative partner Daniel LLoyd ( as Attuned) were invited to explore the pantomime archive and create new work which celebrated the history of pantomime and its stars. We also restored archive posters/flyers which we thought suited and impacted the public exhibition housed within the Hippodrome.
